Los Cabra
Fruit of a shift in his approach and perspectives, the release marks Burstein's "genuine desire to create something honest and meaningful, trying to run from his classic 'comfort zone'". Featuring fellow label affiliate Niko Schwind on remix duty, 'Zakher' is in the producer's words an attempt at channeling "those feelings into a raw and authentic indie / melodic song, using heartfelt orchestral sounds and evocative melodies to capture the essence of vulnerability and growth". Through these two original cuts and revamp, Burstein's mood-palette swings the pendulum between effusive out-thereness and introspective serenity, always nimbly surfing the edge.
The lead single 'Zakher' takes no byway to get its message across. All in rolling curves and playful interplays, Los Cabra's opening move is solar-powered house at its most exquisitely vivid and buoyant. Fusing a crisp drum programming with exotica-laced melodic tropes and otherworldly FX, this one's tailored for optimal traction on the dance floor whilst putting Burstein's reflection on "love, heartbreak, and the human condition" into operation. Hard not to give in to Niko Schwind's magic formula of emotive simplicity and lushly-forested dreamy intricacies ramping up towards trance-inflected epicness on his stadium-sized tour de force of a rework. Music to cheer, love and cry your heart out to. Firing off an incendiary mix of paced-up Arabesques and sizzling-hot circuits whelmed under cascading arps and no-nonsense bass onslaughts, the final number 'Twister' engulfs us down a pulsating corridor of blazing EBM patterns and outright gravity-de fying groove. Peak-time material all the way.
