After Dan Caster recently set the Beatport Nu Disco Charts ablaze with his ‘Let it Play’ EP, Oliver Koletzki’s Light my Fire is back for round four. The young label presents the ‘High Love’ EP by the charming Berliner-by-choice Niko Schwind, whose schooled ear for house music once again dictates the rhythm. Title track ‘Higher Love’ was crafted in Sao Paulo during Niko’s last Brazil tour in collaboration with the local Frenchman Dunwich, who spontaneously invited Niko down to his studio along with vocalist Serge Erège. The result instantly convinces with its laidback groove and sunny synth stabs, which perfectly set the scene for Serge’s soulfoul vocals – good mood guaranteed! ‘Hardwired’, as the title suggests, is distinctly more pumping, yet equally melodic. Here, an infectious synth motif and echoing vocal loops flow over a beefy kick and jacking claps, aiming straight for the dance-floor’s jugular. Lastly, Niko’s good friends Kassette Boys round-off LMF004 with a deeper, bass-line-centric mix of ‘Hardwired’.
